Hi, everyone! This is a new blog about the highlights of my adventures as a furry, and more importantly as a member of the furry fandom community.
I have had an interest in furries going back several years. I’ve been an admirer of good fursuits going back to my childhood. I had even joined a local furries group on Meetup in 2020 August. However it took me a good two years (until 2023 May) to actually attend my first meet. Some of the delay was due to the COVID-19 pandemic of course. Nevertheless that first meet introduced me to a great community locally here in Houston. I wish I had gotten the courage to show up sooner, but I am still glad I made the leap when I did.
It took a little while for me to settle on a fursona. I still had a relatively wide array of choices I was considering at the time of the first meet. So I’m going through everything I was doing at the time. I was randomly assigned the name “ColorfulLynx” (originally with numbers after it, which I have long since forgotten) by one of the games I started playing years before I had a serious interest in joining the furry fandom. I changed the name to “ColorfulLynxShawn” to give it a bit more individuality. (And surprisingly, I still play that game under this name today.)
I looked at that, and combined with the fact I’ve always been a cat person when it comes to pets (Felis catus, not Lynx, of course), it just made sense. And so Colorful Lynx Shawn was born.
The main purposes of this blog are, in no particular order:
- Have a space for me to write recaps on my furry convention visits and other large events.
- Share my views as a furry in a separate space from my “normie” blogs.
- Document my journey through the furry fandom, including the steps towards bringing my fursona to life in fursuit.
This isn’t a catch-all but will cover at least 90% of my posts here. A lot of posts may be heavier in text than photos, though I will try to share some photos when I can.
